Ecology of Care

This map represents my 25-year journey of inquiry, healing, and growth, exploring how we care for ourselves, each other, and our world in the context of today's many challenges.

The phrase 'how we do anything is how we do everything' can be both liberating and frustrating. Sometimes, pushing harder in habitual approaches isn't the answer. Instead, stepping back and exploring a new approach can open up profound new possibilities.

How can we hold our efforts in the context of the broader ecology of our lives? How might we explore new efforts that may lift and change everything else?

A pivotal conversation in my life was when a friend challenged my pattern of first trying to change the way I think or feel about something before I change my behaviors. They expressed: “just try doing something differently, and you’ll be stunned by how it can impact the way you think and feel.” This particular conversation was around prioritizing my physical health over the seemingly more important professional goals of the time. It is a conversation that a decade later I am beyond grateful for their courage to have had with me.

What would a courageous friend invite you to see differently in your own life today? How might you be that friend to yourself right now?

This map is designed to support such self-inquiry around opportunities for growth and greater wholeness. I invite you to print it and use it to explore areas of your life where a change in action may have the potential to uplift everything else.
